Our first trip was to the rain forest where we got to do "The Canopy Walk"
Here is Mary starting the walk which takes you hundreds of feet above the tree tops!
This is the t shirt I wanted to buy..but at the time we did not have any Ghanian currency.
After our Canopy Walk we had lunch while this Crocodile watched us.
After lunch we were taken to our hotel. It was very ritzy.
The Coconut Grove Beach resort, Akwaara
The next day we visited two castles, both of which were built to house slave. The first was St. Georges Castle, Elmina
This was the door to the slave ship. The persons passing thru never saw their home again.
The present day town had many fishing boats and a market.
The next stop was Cape Coast Castle
It had been visited last year by our President and the First Lady.
The beach that used to service slave ships is now used for fishing.
We returned to the ship and the next day embarked on an outing to a local village. These are the village elders.
We were seated and entertained with the children taking over our cameras.
They took this great picture of me with my camera!
The best part of the entertainment were the acrobats.
We had a "naming" ceremony that required a whole bottle of booze to be poured on the ground. Except for a small swallow for the chief.
Here I am named Kofi Nyame. (It pretty much means I was born on Friday)
Mary was named Akaba Gyenaba and that pretty much wraps up our adventures in Ghana.
