In Siem Reap we had dinner and traditional Cambodian Dancing.
It reminded me of "The King and I"
We awoke at 4 am the next day and were bussed straight to Angkor Wat. This is what it looked like when we got there.
This is what it looked like after sunrise.
This was the best shot I got of the sun.
After breakfast we visited the Ta Prohm Temple. It is in the process of being reclaimed from the trees that have demolished large parts of it.
You find piles of rocks like this just about everywhere.
Some of the wall carving have weathered well.
This scene was used in the movie "Tomb Raiders"
I thought this looked like a giant octopus attacking the temple.
Later that day we returned to Angkor Wat and walked through the area. We were really there.
And this monkey was there.
The last place we visited was a Mahayana Buddhist Temple. It is in the walled city of Angkor Thom.
It is a working temple with Buddhist altars.
It was in pretty good shape, although it could have used a good scrub down.
It was guarded by this strange beast. It might have been a lion.
And it had real Buddhist Monks.
And Buddhist Faces lurking in the stones.
There was a temple extolling the virtues of elephants.
